proposal
The primary scientific goal is to study the structure, dynamics,
evolution and magnetic topology of the high - latitude solar
activity, that includes polar faculae, X -ray and K-CaII bright
points, HeI dark points, Ephemerel active regions, polar coronal
holes, plumes, filaments and prominences. It is intended to study
a properties of the various high-latitude structures over a wide
range of time scales, sizes and temperatures to bring new
insights into the conception of the global solar cycle.
EIT's images in HeII 304A provide sensitivity to the
chromospheric network. These data allow to investigate the
relation between HeII, K-CaII bright points, polar faculae and
coronal holes. Full - Sun EUV images in FeIX-X 171A show the
latitude-time distribution of the X-ray bright points and their
relation to the structures inside coronal holes. Full- disk images
in FeXII 195A and FeXV 284A allow to study the properties high-
latitude quiet corona (plumes) outside and inside coronal holes.
Ground-based observations of the photosphere, chromosphere and
corona are carried out at Kislovodsk Solar Station of the Pulkovo
Observatory and RATAN-600 (Russia) in the frame of INTAS Grant 94-
2521 and at Observatoire Royal de Belgique. The EIT images (the
full disk full resolution images of the synoptic program of EIT)
provide an important link between ground-based observations and
SOHO data.
