proposal
This is a request for permission to use EIT data from Sept. 15-30, 1996
as it pertains to the MLSO/SOHO/Yohkoh/Kitt Peak/Big Bear BP campaign
run during this time period. The relevant EIT observations fall under
two catagories, binned fulldisk images in Fe XII 195 A, and one minute
time cadence 5 x 8 arcmin FOV images in Fe XII 195 A for roughly 2 hours
on Sept. 18, 19, 20. These fast time cadence observations corresponded
in time and pointing with observations from each of the other groups
involved in the campaign (SUMER, CDS, MLSO, Kitt peak, Big Bear, Yohkoh).
the scientific purpose of the binned full disk resolution images obtained
roughly every 2 hours over these two weeks was to study the oscillations
and lifetimes of bright points as a function of solar region (i.e. open
magnetic field regions, closed field regions, etc.). The purpose of the
high time cadence observations was to study the short time scale
appearance/disappearance/evolution of these bright points, and attempt
to relate this to magnetic flux emergence/submergence and the formation
of polar plumes/jets/macrospicules. The other observations with similar
time cadence observing the same FOV during this campaign were MLSO He 10830,
SUMER chromospheric/TR line images, CDS TR/coronal line images, Kitt Peak
chromospheric magnetogams, Big Bear H-alpha and photospheric magnetograms,
and Yohkoh soft x-ray images.

I have spoken with Dan Moses about these observations, and he is interested
in being involved in the collaboration. Also, Werner Neupert was the EIT
planner during this time. Perhaps Boudine and Joe Gurman are also interested
in being involved. Any or all of the above mentioned people are welcome to
to participate in this collaboration, as well as other members of the
EIT team not mentioned here.
