proposal
Although an informal CME-spotting and comparison network has
sprung up, consisting of C. St. Cyr (LASCO), Hugh Hudson (SXT),
and myself, we need to formalize this arrangement, especially in
light of the upcoming SOHO-Yohkoh workshop on CME's in 1997 March.

I therefore propose to analyze, with Drs. St. Cyr and Hudson,
but also with any EIT team member(s) who care to join in, the
CME's of 1996 June 6, September 25 - 26, October 5, December 6,
December 10, and December 23 - 24. Specifically, we propose to
determine velocities of features common to two or more instruments,
see whether we can determine where in the corona the first mass
motions occurredin each event (e.g. in large-scale structures or
low in the corona), and estimate masses of the ejecta in various
phases of the events.

In the meantime, I hope to continue to add to the EIT CME
Web pages at:

http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/eit/cme/

This is NOT meant to prevent anyone else on the team from
either working on the same events or working with us --- quite
the contrary: I want to inform the other team members of what's
going on with CME's.
