Being located near flux boundaries, saddle structures are
related with the problem of
reconnection and energy release as widely accepted.
I am looking for the saddle structures in H alpha,
soft X-rays and UV in order to recognize field structure and
topology as well as temporal changes. New excellent data from
SOHO's EIT could provide us with ample opportunity to find the
saddles in the corona. It seems to me I can recognize some
examples in the images of SOHO database archive via Internet. I
suppose they can be useful in some sense. Analyzing a cadence of
UV images and magnetograms we will be able to reconstruct the
process of new flux emergence and field line reconnection
as well as the temperature variations which are expected in the
process of reconnection. I would appreciate collaboration and
assistance of colleagues more experienced in
image processing and access to SOHO data. I would be glad if
this problem is interesting for anyone of SOHO consortium.
Full resolution EIT images and magnetograms of December 1997
(for instance) are needed for this work.
