Initially, we wish to use EIT images to simluate the effects
on the ionospheric production rate during the total solar eclipse
in August 1999. For this we require full disk images at (preferably)
171 A as this is the closest wavelength to those producing ionization
in the Earth's ionospheric E-region.

During the eclipse we made measurements of the decay of the
Earth's ionosphere and wish to model these measurements
in order to deconvolve the effect of obscuring active regions
from those caused by changes in atmospheric chemistry.

If we are able to separate these effects, we then hope to use
the information we have gained to model the structure of the
EUV sun for historic eclipses as far back as 1932 in order to
study long term changes in solar conditions.
