This study is:
1. a survey of all large-scale EUV arcades observed by EIT at 195 throughout the SOHO mission
2. a systematic analysis of the main physical properties of these phenomena
3. a study of the magnetic field structure of the associated CMEs as detected by SOHO/LASCO
4. a study of prew- and post coronal CME signatures
5. an identification of CME source regions
6. a correlated study of magnetic helicity at the Sun and in interplanetary space
7. an attempt to develop 3D image reconstruction techniques for the NASA STEREO mission

The work is carried out as development for the NASA STEREO mission
by the MPAe STEREO/Corona project scientist Volker Bothmer with
and the project phds Hebe Cremades and Durgesh Tripathi.

The project Stereo/Corona is supported by the German
„Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung“ through
the „Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V.“
(DLR, German Space Agency) under project number 50 OC 0005.
The project Stereo/Corona of the Max-Planck-Institut für
Aeronomie (MPAe) is a science and hardware contribution to
the optical imaging package SECCHI currently being developed
for the NASA STEREO mission.
