6.4 Determining Temperatures from GOES

This program allows one to call up the GOES soft X-ray photometric data and to reduce it to physical parameters such as temperature, emission measure, X-ray luminosity, free-free radio flux, etc.; ``error ranges'' are also included for some parameters using P. Bornmann's algorithm. The output variable times can be used in UTPLOT, and the physical parameters are tags to the structure outputs. The total_energy output is an integral of the total radiative energy across the interactively selected time range.
IDL> goes_reducer, t1, t2, times, outputs, total_energy, /three, /plot, /noback
GT_SUMMARY plots the GOES_REDUCER outputs in standard form (called by /plot in GOES_REDUCER also): the GOES hard and soft fluxes above background, and the temperature and emission measure with error ranges.
IDL> gr_summary_plot, times, outputs
