SOHO instruments on Triana

Since the NASA announcement of the "Triana Opportunity for Addressing SOHO Scientific Objectives," there has been considerable interest on the part of several potential Triana teams on the SOHO-like instrumentation that might be proposed, and specifically how to accommodate those instruments within the scope of a Triana spacecraft.

The teams who are proposing to provide instruments to address SOHO scientific objectives are currently involved in an ongoing Triana proposal effort, but desire to make instrument and accommodation information available to all proposal teams, in the event that (as per the Triana Q and A, A18, NASA decides to provide one or more of the proposed instruments to another proposal team as GFE.

The instruments currently under consideration for proposal are:

Name Closest SOHO equivalent(s) Home Page Accommodation

SOI/MDI SOI/MDI Solar Oscillations Investigation MDI on Triana
LEITE LASCO and EIT LASCO and EIT LASCO/EIT for Triana
SUMER SUMER SUMER SUMER

VIRGO VIRGO VIRGO VIRGO

Please note that not all the above instruments may be included in the final proposal: the announcement came out so recently that we are only now attempting to determine what is likely to fit with our Triana prime (earth) science partners.
