Richard is an Associated Scientist on the HESSI SMEX project. He is integrating the data analysis software and designing the filters to be used with the shutters which will provide up to twelve orders of magnitude of dynamic range for imaging spectroscopy from 3 keV to 10 MeV.


Richard supports the analysis of solar hard X-ray and gamma-ray data from SMM/HXRBS & GRS, CGRO/BATSE, and YOHKOH/HXT & WBS. He has created an interactive analysis package, SPEX, in IDL for the spectral analysis of these data sets.
