LASCO Activity Report for
January 2, 2008 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2007/12/31 (Monday)

01:31 UT E Limb	Big, wide, and bright loop front. Trailing material
(including several ragged fronts) all along the day.
Some inflows in the trailing material. WIDTH of the
event in C3 at 03:42 UT (deflected structure on N
included, LE at ~ 17.7 solar radii): ~ 105 deg. GOES
			reported a C8.3 X-ray flare between 00:37 - 01:38 UT
with peak emission at 01:11 UT, soon after a C1.7
X-ray flare (peak at 20:05 UT on 12/30). Multiple
B-class activity afterward. EIT 195 images show that
the flare occurred partly behind the E Limb and was
			thus probably much stronger.

2008/01/01 (Tuesday)

E Limb	Some reconnection-type events continue, inflows.
GOES reported multiple B-class activity on AR (10980)
close to the eastern Limb, all along the day. Also a C1.1
X-ray flare (AR 10980 on S09E72) peaking at 15:37 UT.

13:31 UT S East	Elongated feature.

21:30 UT S Pole	Diffuse jet-like front.

2008/01/02 (Wednesday)

03:54 UT E Limb	Elongated loop front.

08:30 UT S East	Diffuse and elongated loop front.

09:54 UT E Limb	Strong brightening develops as a big, wide and
bright loop front. Deflection of structures to
			N and S.
