Points Of Interest

2007/11/15 (Thursday)

09:26 UT WS West	Small front in the trail of the event that was
reported to start early in the afternoon on previous
 			day.

18:06 UT N West Very faint Halo Event in C2: The event started to be
discernible (in fact, barely discernible) in C2 on
11/15 at around 18:06 UT above the NW Limb. Due to
its extreme faintness, it is difficult to be accurate
with the time of first appearance. Diffuse extensions
start to be seen on E by 20:50 UT. By 23:26 UT, the
event looks in C2 like a butterfly (signal above the
S Pole extremely faint). Only the part of the event
developing toward NW is well discernible in C3 (first
seen on 11/16 00:18 UT, vanished by 08:18 UT, leading
edge at ~ 11 solar radii, angular width < 75 deg).
Something can be guessed on NE, but only close to the
inner edge of C3. The mean plane-of-sky speed of the
			LE at PA 320 was ~ 155 km/sec (based on C3 data).
GOES recorded no significant X-ray activity (below
A-level) during 11/15. Likewise, no frontside activity
can be seen in EIT 195 images. In summary, the event
has been determined as a very faint Halo Event only
discernible in C2 as a halo, most probably backsided.
