LASCO Activity Report for
September 8, 2006 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

KEYHOLE Operations:
-------------------
2006/08/21 - 2006/09/19 : 26 m Keyhole
2006/08/28 - 2006/09/13 : 34 m Keyhole

- LASCO safed for maneuvers (SK and MM) on 09/05 @ 18:00 UT.
LASCO recovery expected for late on 09/07; therefore,
  observations should start on 09/07 @ ~ 22:00 UT.

- Spacecraft Maneuvers (Station Keeping and Momentum Management,
  not roll) on 09/06.

- 2006/08/19 - 2006/09/16 : EIT CCD Bakeout

- At least until next S/C maneuvers (scheduled for 09/06),
LASCO will NOT be recorded during DSN gaps (starting on 08/28,
  until 09/16).

- 12 minutes cadence for C2 during Keyhole (only during contact
periods since 08/28, which are sparse...).

2006/09/07 (Thursday)

First C2 image after recovery: 22:24 UT
First C3 image after recovery: 23:18 UT

22:24 UT EN East	Elongated (bright top) loop front already under
			development.

2006/09/08 (Friday)

	00:24 - 04:12 UT LASCO Data Gap (C2 time).

04:12 UT WN West	Loop front already developing after data gap,
surrounded by a fainter and much wider front spanning
all the western hemisphere up to past the S Pole
(at least in the C2 FOV). It looks in C2 as at least
a Partial Halo Event. No EIT images due to EIT CCD
bakeout. GOES recorded a couple of B-class X-ray
flares on NOAA AR 10909 during the time of the LASCO
			data gap: i) a B4.4 on S07E06 between 01:30 UT - 01:47
UT with peak emission at 01:39 UT, and ii) a B3.3
between 02:34 - 02:45 UT with peak emission at 02:39 UT.

Last C2 image available by the time of writing: 05:12 UT.
