LASCO Activity Report for
May 1, 2006 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2006/04/28 (Friday)

13:31 UT E Limb	Very faint and diffuse front that quickly fades.

23:54 UT EN East	Bright loop front with structured interior. Faint
 			extensions to N and S. GOES recorded a C2.3 X-ray
			flare on NOAA AR 10878 (~N16E90) between 23:23 -
23:52 UT with peak emission at 23:36 UT.

2006/04/29 (Saturday)

08:30 UT EN East	Ragged loop front. It fades throughout C3.

12:54 UT W Limb	Diffuse, ragged, and expanding loop front. Very faint
in C3. It fades throughout C3.

16:54 UT EN East	Bright loop front. Faint extensions to N and S. Gusty
outflow afterward. GOES recorded another C2.3 S-ray
			flare on NOAA AR 10878 (~N16E81) between 16:15 -
16:45 UT with peak emission at 16:31 UT.

22:06 UT EN East	Very faint and diffuse front that quickly fades.

2006/04/30 (Sunday)

	01:31 - 03:54 UT	LASCO Data Gap.

03:54 UT EN East	Bright and ragged loop front already under development
after data gap (LE almost at the end of the C2 FOV).
Very faint extensions seem to cover the C2 occulting
disk by 06:06 UT. Difficult to say if those extension
are really associated to the bright loop front. GOES
 			recorded a C5.3 X-ray flare on NOAA AR 10878 (~N16E74)
between 01:33 - 02:07 UT with peak emission at 01:57 UT.
EIT 195 images show evidence of a CME on and behind the
limb on ENE during the data gap.

10:34 UT EN East	Extremely faint and diffuse brightening starts to
be discernible on ENE, apparently covering the C2
occulting disk by 11:54 UT (elliptical shape, i.e.,
elongated toward E and W). Barely discernible in C3.
GOES recorded a C1.8 X-ray flare on NOAA AR 10876
			(S10E08) between 09:13 - 09:37 UT with peak emission
at 09:32 UT. EIT 195 images show a brightening between
09:24 and 09:48 UT concentrated in the W part of the
AR. Some dimming around FC N and E of AR.

17:54 UT S West	Extremely faint and slightly expanding loop front.
			It fades thoughout C3.

22:06 UT W Limb	Faint and diffuse loop front followed by a narrow
front a little bit to S at 00:06 UT (on 05/01).

2006/05/01 (Monday)

04:06 UT WS West	Narrow ragged front.
