LASCO Activity Report for
March 3, 2006 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

KEYHOLE Operations:
-------------------
* Feb 22 - Mar 21: 26 m Keyhole.
* Feb 28 - Mar 16: 34 m Keyhole.

- S/C Maneuvers scheduled for 2006/03/07 ==> LASCO safing for maneuvers on
  2006/03/06 @ 19:30 UT. LASCO recovery is scheduled for 2006/03/10 (due to
  DSN & Mars explorer) @ 03:30 UT.

- LASCO will be running a version of the "Brueckner plumes study" of Mar 21
  1997 prior to the S/C maneuver. While SOHO is inverted (and starting on
  2006/02/28 @ 03:45 UT) LASCO will be taking 32x13 LOCS block FOV over the
  South pole including the coronal hole. This allows an open FOV with
  occulting pylon in the north. The sequence will be C2 orange/clear filters,
  100 sec exp, 5 min cadence. There will remain FFFres C2 and C3 at 1 hr
  cadence for the web and daily orange/blue fielding images and orange filter
  pB sets.

- EIT CCD Bakeout bewtween 2006/02/28 03:00 UT - 2006/03/18.

- TRACE performing detector annealing: 2006/02/27 - 2006/03/03.
  Therefore, there will be no full disk mosaics during this period
  to compensate for the lack of EIT images during the bakeout period.

2006/03/02 (Thursday)

03:05 UT E Limb	Slow development of a loop system. Very faint and
			diffuse loop-like extensions to S, apparently extending
			up to the S Pole. A bright structured feature
			(apparently twisted) can be seen developing after the
 			data gap that starts at 04:05 UT.

03:05 UT WS West	Slow development of a system of faint loops.

	04:05 - 10:05 UT	Non-recoverable LASCO Data Gap.

2006/03/03 (Friday)

09:05 UT ES East	Narrow and relatively bright front.

Last C2 image available by the time of writing: 11:05 UT.
