Points Of Interest

Kreutz comet entering the C2 FOV on 2005/01/05 @ 09:54 UT from the bottom
left corner (SE) and reaching the eastern border of the C2 occulting disk by
around 15:30 UT. It is SOHO-1087, which in turn is SOHO's 912th Kreutz comet
discovery, and SOHO's 2nd discovery of 2006. It was first seen in the C3 FOV
early on 2005/01/04.


2006/01/05 (Thursday)

03:30 UT  WS West	Diffuse front to N of streamer.

09:54 UT  WN West	Bright ragged loop front. Some very faint and diffuse
			arcade-like extensions above the W Limb. GOES recorded 
			an impulsive C4.4 X-ray flare on NOAA AR 10843 (N14W59)
			between 09:17 - 09:26 UT with peak emission at 09:23 UT
			during a relatively long duration B8.6 X-ray flare
			occurred on AR 10841 (N13W77).

09:30 UT  E Limb	Elongated and diffuse loop-like front preceding a 
			ragged loop-like structure. They both fade throughout
			C3.

16:06 UT  WN West	Faint and diffuse loop-like front that fades throughout
			C2.

2006/01/06 (Friday)

07:31 UT  WN West	Very faint and diffuse loop-like front that fades
			throughout C2.

Last C2 image available by the time of writing: 11:54 UT.
