LASCO Activity Report for
September 29, 2005 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

- Sungrazer comet entering the C2 FOV on 2005/09/29 at ~ 00:20 UT (bottom
right). It disappears behind the C2 occulting disk at 05:06 UT.

- Sungrazer comet starts to be visible in the C3 FOV (bottom right) on
  2005/09/28 @ ~ 18:42 UT.

- EIT CME watch in 304 on 2005/09/28 between 07:19 - 19:25 UT, in support
  of filament observations (#7155).

SOHO KEYHOLE #10 telemetry period: Aug 31-Sep 28, 2005.

During the Telemetry Keyhole LASCO was in improved synoptic cadence
of C2 at 12 mins cadence and C3 at 30 mins cadence, including daily
orange/blue filter fielding images.

2005/09/28 (Wednesday)

END OF KEYHOLE.

01:54 UT ES East	Initially diffuse front develops as a big and asymmetric
bright loop front (apparently a complex two-component
front). By 04:54 UT the whole event spans from the N
Pole up to the S Pole (on the eastern hemisphere).
Pseudo-continuous outflow all across the eastern
hemisphere abd some faint expanding loop fronts on S,
all along the day. EIT 195 images do not show signatures
of a frontsided (nor limb) prior to the time of first
		 	appearance in C2.

06:54 UT E Limb	Bright elongated front in the aftermath of previous
			event.

11:30 UT S West	Narrow an elongated loop-like structure.

17:29 UT S West	Very faint and elongated loop front.

18:13 UT EN East	Bright loop front preceded by a faint and diffuse
front. Extremely faint expanding extensions up to SE.

19:43 UT S East	Faint and elongated loop front.

2005/09/29 (Thursday)

04:54 UT E Limb	Faint elongated loop front.

05:30 UT S West	Blob-like front.

08:30 UT WN West	Faint ragged loop front brighter to N.

Last C2 image available by the time of writing: 12:06 UT.
