LASCO Activity Report for
July 5, 2005 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2005/07/01 (Friday)

05:30 UT EN East	Bright ragged front. Gusty outflow continues. GOES
			reported a C5.3 X-ray flare on N14E82 between 04:57 -
05:07 UT with peak emission at 05:02 UT.

21:30 UT EN East	Ragged and asymmetric loop front followed by an
expanding loop front very early on next day (difficult
to give an exact time of first appearance). Gusty
			outflow continues.

22:30 UT S Pole	Very faint blob-like front that fades throughout C3.

2005/07/02 (Saturday)

04:30 UT S West	Very faint ragged blob-like front starts to be
discernible. A couple more later, a little bit to N.
			Some infalling material by midday.

14:54 UT S West	Slow development of a system of faint loops.

2005/07/03 (Sunday)

03:30 UT NN West	Very faint front 'shifting' toward NW-WNW as it develops.
Difficult to give an exact time if first appearance.
It is not discernible in C3.

11:30 UT EN East	Diffuse front that quickly fades. Gusty outflow
continues. Some reconexion events (with corresponding
infalling material) during the day. In particular, one
at ~ 17:54 UT at PA ~ 66 deg (pair formation). Afterward,
ejection of a ragged blob-like front (at ~ 22:06 UT)
starting at about 3.15 solar radii.

20:30 UT WN West	Diffuse front develops as pseudo-continuous outflow.
BY ~23:06 UT, the slow development of a system of faint
expanding loop fronts starts to be discerned, superposed
in the LOS with the pseudo-continuous outflow. By the
middle of next day, the event (i.e., the system of
loops) shows up as a big twisted structure.

20:58 UT E Limb	Jet-like front.

22:06 UT E Limb	Another jet-like front.

2005/07/04 (Monday)

00:54 UT E Limb	Another jet-like front.

05:54 UT NN East	Jet-like front developing toward NE.

06:30 UT WS West	Slow development of a system of faint and expanding loop
fronts. Difficult to give an exact time of first
appearance. Gusty outflow superposed in the LOS.

13:31 UT N Pole	Very narrow fan-like front that quickly fades.

19:54 UT EN East	Slow development of a system of faint loops. A relatively
bright twisted structure follows late in the day.

2005/07/05 (Tuesday)

03:30 UT WS West	Faint, diffuse, and wide expanding loop front superposed
in the LOS with the twisted trail of event reported to
start at 06:30 UT on previous day. It is followed by
a similar one at 04:06 UT, which apparently merges then
with a next one that starts to be seen at ~ 04:54 UT.
This whole event surpasses, while in the C3 FOV, the
event reported to start at 06:30 UT on previous day.

Time of the last C2 image analyzed: 15:06 UT.
