Points Of Interest

Discovery of SOHO-500 now confirmed. Comet visible in 
C2 data from 2002/08/12 12:06 - 16:30 UT in NW of
field of view. Congratulations to Rainer Kracht, Germany.

Perihelion time awaiting calculation and confirmation.

Planet Mars is now in C2's field of view, moving L to R


2002/08/12

00:06 UT  S East	Narrow front along streamer, similar
			fainter event at 03:42

11:42 UT  S East	Very narrow loop front along streamer,
			fades rapidly in C2

18:54 UT  N West	Thick but narrow bright front along 
			streamer that began to swell previous 
			day. Resolves to multiple-loop system

19:31 UT  S East	Faint narrow spray-like front in ESE
			along N extremity of wide bright
			streamer

21:30 UT  S East	Loops previously moving slowly along
			same streamer begin to accelerate and 
			brighten. Wide bright loop front with
			cavity formed by 01:31. Some core-like 
			material and fronts follow later

22:30 UT  N East	Ragged loop front along streamer.
			Slight cavity and outflow follow

2002/08/13

04:30 UT  N East	Further ragged fronts along same streamer,
			fainter than previous event 

	08:30 - 14:30 UT	Temporary DSN data gap
