LASCO Activity Report for
May 16, 2002 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

None today

2002/05/15

01:50 UT E Limb	Another bright asymmetric front, smaller than
			previous events

02:26 UT S East	Ragged loop front along streamer, quite
			bright, widens through C2

04:26 UT E Limb	Another bright asymmetric front, second largest
			of all similar events

05:06 UT N East	Very faint ragged loop front

05:26 UT S West	Initially very narrow loop front widens through C2.
			Another at 09:50

08:50 UT E Limb	Another bright asymmetric front

09:50 UT N West	Wide bright loop front with cavity, core and
			trailing material, follows extremely slowly-rising
system of loops and fronts from ~18 hrs previously

12:54 UT E Limb	Another bright asymmetric front

15:26 UT N East	Faint fan-like front

18:50 UT S East	Spray

19:27 UT N East	Brighter spray

23:06 UT E Limb	Narrow bright front resolves to show highly
			helical flux rope internal structure

2002/05/16

00:50 UT HALO Faint front in SE is followed by bright
well-defined loop front elsewhere in next
image, forming full halo CME by 02:06.
Some continued outflow. C3.4 flare AR9948,
EIT activity more widespread and prolonged

06:26 UT S West	Bright loop front with cavity. Much gusty outflow

07:27 UT E Limb	Fan-like front, quite faint

07:50 UT N East	Ragged front along streamer

08:06 UT S East	Spray

10:50 UT E Limb	Spray, N of previous event
