SOHO/LASCO  HALO CME December 15, 2023 

C2 Start Time: 7:36 - 7:48 UT

C3 Start Time: 7:42 - 8:06 UT

Type of CME:
Asymmetric HALO CME — FRONTSIDE
pa1:  000    pa2:  160       Total Width: 
200 degrees

Velocity Measurements:

C2:   3 points     1161.2 km/sec @ PA 242.40
C3:   10 points   1041.7 km/sec @ PA 242.44
Average through both(C2/C3) fields:  1057.3 km/sec  Acceleration: -20.56 m/sec^2

COMMENT:  LASCO C2/C3  show a partial halo CME, emerging from the SW with bright opening lines and core. The CME propagates outwards with bulk in the SW.
The source is two eruptions centered on N03W61(AR 3514) associated with a M6.3 flare beginning at 07:03 UT and a M6.9 flare starting at 07:23 UT. 

NOAA/GOES reports a M6.3 flare from AR 13514 07:03/07:15/07:34 UT
NOAA/GOES reports a M6.9 flare from AR 13514 07:23/07:34/07:43 UT


STEREO Beacon Data COR2 A, shows a bright core emerging from the SW with faint opening lines surrounding.
  Preliminary time/height measurements gives a velocity of 966.8 km/sec @ PA 251.56 using 5 points of measurement.
