Key

Percent Frequency of Clear, Scattered (2-4 tenths), Broken (5-9 tenths) and Overcast or Obscured Skies

These data are compiled from surface observations at the site. The time of the observation is usually 0300 UTC except for a few stations where observations at that time are missing. This is about one hour before the eclipse.

Probability

A rough calculation of the probability of seeing the eclipse based on the frequency of clear, scattered, broken or overcast cloud. It is essentially the sums of the frequency of the cloud category times a representative clear sky amount for the category.

% hours with cloud < 0.3 and vis > 2

This the frequency of hours with less than 3 tenths cloud and visibilities of 3 miles or more. The time of observation is 0300 UTC except for a few cases as noted above.

Monthly pcpn

Average May precipitation in mm. Snow is melted and the water content measured.

% of observations with precipitation

The percent of observations at 0300 UTC in May in which precipitation is reported.

% of observations with fog

The percent of 0300 UTC observations with visibility less than 3 miles.

Mean wind

The average wind speed in May at 0300 UTC

Prevailing Direction

The most frequent wind direction. Where winds do not show a dominant direction, ÒvrblÓ (variable) is shown. If calm winds are the most common condition and more than 20% of observations, ÒcalmÓ is indicated.

Tmax

Mean daily high temperature (°C) for December.

Tmin

Mean daily minimum temperature (°C) for December.
